FRUIT

Postby Chelle » Wed Jul 11, 2007 10:55 pm

Is it just me or is fruit & veg gone up in price at the shop's. I went to buy bannanas today last week they were under $3 & today they were $7 per Kg which is a pretty heafty price increase. Just wondering if anyone else has seen a difference in price??

I haven't noticed the apples  Everything is definitely expensive. I'm lucky that I live in a market gardens area so lots of local produce, but it's still expensive. I definitely bought a lot less this week, and focussed more on the cheaper items. I refuse to pay $12 a kilo for zucchinis, but I did buy some green beans for $10 a kilo... luckily they were delicious, and not mouldy like usual :)

Might go over the road and check out the prices at the market.... or maybe not... I'm just saying that cos that's were the chocolate is :(

Strangely, I have just returned from the markets and found the prices had dropped again this week, after a few weeks of $14/kg zucchini, bananas $8+ etc....

Your prices should go down again next week......

Yesterday I refused to buy fruit and veg from the supermarket so I bought all mine from a local distributor... Paid $20 for 2 huge bag fulls...

Weren't the price increases because of the rain we got not so long ago and it destroying crops etc??

first prices were because of the drought, then it was because of the floods.

you know what annoyed me yesterday? not only ws zucchini $14 a kilo, they were also the biggest zucchinis ive ever seen! noot one was under 500gm!!! talk about price gouging...

Ok, I did the shopping today (shop and Aldi and what I cant get, I get from Safeway) If anyone shops at Aldi, the fruit prices seem to be quite reasonable atm....I got a basket of about 12 granny smith apples for $1.99...they are not sour or anything, so thats good :D Punnet of strawbs .80c, avocado .49c so it was pretty decent
