18th Birthday

Postby emma21 » Mon Aug 20, 2007 11:08 pm

My sister will be 18 in October so we are currently in the midst of planning a get together to celebrate. The theme is pink - decorations will be all pink, people are to wear pink etc etc

At the moment I am coming up with a food list - anyone have any suggestions (doesnt have to be all low fat)?

I have a few things in mind but my head is uncapable of thinking of anymore at the moment (flu and work issues  )

Thanks in Advance :)

ooohhh....i was definitely thinking cupcakes too kate!

what time of day is the party emma?

the only problem with pink is finding savoury food to fit (other than maybe cocktail frankfurts?)...

but i think any 'small' food fits with a pink theme...little cocktail sorts of things. if she likes smoked salmon, that's pink! i made cute herb scones (i cut them out with a shot glass, so that big!) with a slice of smoked salmon & some cream cheese in the middle for a party once. they weren't too unhealthy.

i love planning parties and making finger food!

it'll be a night time party - we were going to do a bbq with nibblies but decided to stick with finger foods instead...

Doesnt all have to be pink foods though.. there'll be a few pink things to eat and then whatever else i can come up with... I'm making pink jelly shots and we are going to hire a daquiri machine too... possibly a chocolate fountain...

Thanks for your ideas - keep them coming :D

definitely yes to the chocoloate fountain - a friend of mine had one at a party and it was such good fun. and a bit of an ice breaker as well - a good way to start talking to someone you don't know as you both try to negotiate the fountain! they had marshmallows & strawberries to dip. i think that's all...

they also had a daiquiri machine. also good fun!

vol u vents are super easy as finger food.

chipolata (sp) sausages are also great - cook them in the oven, dry them off with paper towel and put back in the oven with some honey & some grain mustard. yum!
