Tonsillitis

Reasons why it sucks:

1. I feel awful.
2. It hurts to breathe, to swallow, to talk, to eat.
3. I can taste gross pus in my mouth.
4. I feel tired all the time.
5. I'm missing my second last week of uni - a bad thing, I have so much to do!
6. I'm afraid of infecting Joel so I can't kiss him.
7. I have my med dinner on FRIDAY NIGHT and I want to be well!
8. I can't eat anything except jelly, icecream and cocopops.
9. I can't exercise.
10. It hurtssssssssssssssssss

I had it recently - antibiotics suck by the way.

My parents always used to do the salt water gargle thing. I also have olive leaf extract (natural anti-bacterial) and a tonic from Greenridges which is the cold and flu biotic (boosts immune - garlic, horseradish, ecchinacea etc) Now I'm by no stretch of the imagination a hippie type, but I swear that stuff works. Probably cause the bugs can't stand the taste. Bleerrghh.

The bloke has also had an infection for which he had anti-b's that didn't seem to work - looked more like an ulcer than my traditional white spots variety. He swore by gargling listerine and/or whiskey.

if all else fails, soluble panadol/asprin will help if gargled.

(I used to get tonsillitis frequently as a kid - it stopped when I stopped going to a chlorinated pool)

oh you poor thing I feel for you!!

I used to get it about 5-6 times a year until my 20's, now I get it about 1-2 times a year.

I have thought about getting them out but the doctors are really reluctant.....

I gargle salt water and it helps heaps.

yeah, I'm still sick. Went to the doctor yesterday, got penicillin and a medical certificate.. I've been off uni since Tuesday.

I'm really upset because the ball is tomorrow night! I'm going anyway, but I probably won't be able to eat my $100 meal and I won't be drinking... *sigh*

I've been looking forward to this for ages!

And.. I never thought I would say this.. but I'm SO SICK oF ICECREAM!

Having mashed potato for dinner.. *sigh*

Hopefully I'll be better next week

Thanks for the advice :) I've been taking panadol/nurofen regularly and that seems to help... just gotta wait it out now and let the antibiotics do their job :/

I discovered those LeRice things are really great (when I had my wisdom teeth out they were smooth enough to swallow but with enough body to feel like I ate something) You could make a nice vege soup?

And about the ball, just go and have fun! You deserve it (and you don't have to have alcohol to have a good time). I'm sure they will have something you can eat - perhaps they will have soup as an entree and if you tell the waiter, they will probably come up with something for you!
