do you prefer yellow gold or silver/white gold jewellery?

Postby madeline » Wed Aug 29, 2007 6:58 pm

I always used to be a white gold girl, I have a beautiful white gold diamond ring which was a present from my boy, and I loved Tiffany & Co. because it was all silver jewellery. I also have a few random long silver necklaces from Sportsgirl, Diva, etc

But recently I've become attracted to yellow gold in general, necklaces and plain bangles in particular. I also notice most women over the age of about 30 wear yellow gold. Is just more timeless and classic, or does white gold look like silver and therfore "cheap"?

I LOVE white gold, and platinum

Its my fav. Ive never been a fan of yellow or rose gold, I dont like. I dont think it suits my fair skin either, lol.

I know what you mean about people over 30, most people that ive seen wearing heaps of yellow gold is over 30. My bf's mum drips herself in yellow gold jewellery and I hate it, too tacky. Less is more!

I also love the look of a diamond set in white gold/platinum for an engagement ring, I think the colours look better together than diamond with yellow gold. But thats just my opinion! Everyone is different. I think yellow gold is more popular.

P.S I dont think wearing yellow gold jewellery is tacky, just the fact that my bf's mum wear HEAPS of it all at once, like numerous rings, 3 necklaces and 5 bracelets all at once! Lol.

Just thought I would clear that up! Don't want to offend anyone, thats just my opinion.

this is an easy one for me - I prefer the look of yellow gold. I have two rings both yellow gold. I love pearls, given the option I would rather buy a nice set of pearl earings, necklace, bracelet, ring (lol I have them all, timeless and classic).

I don't like the look of silver at all

I prefer white gold or platinum. I have a gold wedding band that I will upgrade to a platinum ring at some point. Not sure whyI got gold. Think it was just a phase at that time. I'm not the overly sentimental type that thinks I must live in this wedding ring forever :P It was just a cheapie when we bought it, knowing one day we'd upgrade it ;)

Yes... married... twice!!!

I'm 34 (almost 35) ... and I'd like to think I'm very youthful. Age has no relevance to me anymore. I have some friends in their early twenties, others in their forties (or close to) and to me it's all about attitude.

Sometimes I just think to myself "Wow, I'm a grown up, I can do whatever the hell I want!" And I do :D

i always wore silver things, i thought they looked better against my skin :)

but my engagement ring is gold and white gold. the band is yellow gold, and the part that holds the diamond is white gold :) its nice.

so besides my engagement ring and wedding ring, thats the only yellow gold jewellery i have.

(the hubby has a white gold wedding ring)

Silver suits my complexion better IMHO. But my wedding rings are yellow gold, and I have a yellow gold bracelet from the bloke and will wear yellow gold jewelery for the wedding as there is cream material involved and silver doesn't go with cream.

I wear silver because gold just looks awful on me! Really rank with my complection  I know what you mean, 'fake' silver is everywhere, so I do sometimes worry that my rings look cheap like the rings from 'diva' or something....ah well, if you like it then who cares what it looks like really? ;) I bet its spesh cos its from the boy anyway regardless of what its made from ;)

I think gold looks more expensive and classy than silver or white gold. Unless its tacky gold jewelery you get in Diva.

I like long silver necklaces with charms an things on the end... but I prefer gold bracelets and rings. It suits my colouring more.

I have white gold wedding & engagement rings I dont wear as they dont fit - I anticipated losing the few extra kilos that have now turned into like 50 kilos!

Reading this I have decided in future I may wear lots of jewellery, some of each colour then it should go together ok. What do you think? hehe
