try to hear the note in your head before you sing it.
try to come down onto a note rather than reaching up to it.
don't waver, if you're going to get it wrong, do it confidently.
breathe properly to support the notes and stick dead on the centre of the note if it's long
warm up your voice first.
I spent 7 years in a choir, so my tips probably are a little weird, but they make sense to me.
