There had been lots of issues in our family so my sister and I threw a surprise party for my Mum's 60th birthday to brighten her sadness. Unfortunately she never got over it. We went to her place for dinner so she wouldnt be suspicious and then people started to arrive and she was so in shock. I mean disturbed shock not happy. lalala I know she appreciated but I will never do it again.

Kate, Im terrible at keeping secrets :(
To the point that if its someones birthday and I buy them a pressie, I have to give it to them on the day I bought it (even if its like months before the b day) cos I cant stand having it there and not telling them  (spent sooo much money on 'christmas presents' that were given in october or november cos I couldnt stand it anymore!) I just burst, Im TERRIBLE at keeping secrets :( So Im not much help!

I threw a surprise B'day for the bloke who has a habit of guessing everythig. organise something else to do on the day as a pseudo surprise birthday thing. Maybe a mate to take them somewhere or you can while an accomplice sets up the venue. That way if they do get suspicious, their suspicions are allayed when they have their "surprise" outing. then get everyone to arrive no later than 15 min prior to your scheduled arrival and get someone else to prompt them to enter the venue (for us it was a neighbour calling to say the shed door was suspiciously open and that she had shut it but he should check if everything was still there)

Accomplices are entirely necessary.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

"Reach out and take control of what lands in your lap"

thanks tegan we have arranged a golf day for him in the morning and he is thrilled about that. i told him that he should go and play golf with chris seeing as though its his birthday on friday and we arent doing anything for it this year. chris and his partner are then going to drop him off at home because they have to head over this way to visit a relative ;) ;) ;) theres not going to be a lot of people coming to it, only about 20 or so people but it will be nice for him to have some sort of spontaniety (sp?) in his life ;)
