Is it possible to lose weight but not notice it??

Postby blueberries » Sat Oct 27, 2007 2:22 pm

According to the scales I'm losing weight but I haven't noticed any weight loss within myself...is there something wrong with me?? Should I weigh myself on two different scales?? According to the scales I've lost 5.7kg.

Appreciate your feedback

Congratulation on your weightloss yes it is possible to lose the weight but not notice it within yourself. The best thing to do is take measureaments record your progress because the scales cant tell the difference between fluid loss to fat loss or muscle aswell.
Has any family members noticed your weightlosss?? If you are concerned about it you could always go to the doctor to get there thought's.

yeah, i've lost 3kg and have only just started to notice my pants looser, not much of difference but i don't want to lose another 7kg to see a bigger difference

Any tips for a young mum wanting to tone her tummy?

LOL lots of water helps skin elasticity and as you lose weight your tummy will go down. mine did, but it will never be flat (mine) maybe some crunches and sit ups

I noticed when I lost 3-4, its not a huge difference on my body but I feel better and am pleased with myself. And when I have a day of eating lots or things I shouldn't, i really feel bloated and big even if I don't put any back on.

I've now lost about 25kg, and If i look in the mirror, and the way I feel, I think I haven't lost any weight. I feel and look in the mirror the same as I've always been. The only evidence I have of my weight loss doesn't come from me, but from outside sources... i.e. Scales, Pants getting too big, and girls saying "Geeze, you've lost a lot of weight hey..."
(I've noticed guys don't tend to notice if people have lost weight... Even my best mate who was always on me at the gym telling me I needed to start losing weight didn't notice a difference when I saw him after losing 20kg.)

It depends really how much you weigh to begin with.

if you have A LOT of weight to lose, you probably wont notice like a 5kg loss, but someone who weighs less and loses 5kg (a much greater body % loss) will notice it.

i've lost 6kg in total, and i noticed it in the beginning, but now i am feeeling fatter than ever! even though i've kept off the weight. grr..
Starting Weight: 62kg Current Weight: 55.0kg Goal Weight: 54kg

Goal Reached 22 February 2008, Must get down to 54kg again!

i've lost about 20kg and i still think i look the same most of the time  some other people have noticed, but most of the time i can't tell. like immortal said, most of my evidence is from outside sources too. however some days when i feel really good and am getting ready to go out, look in the mirror and think "geez i've lost a lot of weight" but that doesnt happen very often :P

Have you tried measuring yourself? I went through a few weeks of tiny weight loss but huge cm loss (4cm in one week off my waist!).

Try to look at other factors like measurements and howe your clothes feel.

Congrats too on a great start to your weight loss journey!

Yes totally, sometimes I lose 10kg and don't notice anything, then I'll lose 2 kg and everyone will notice.

I think fat density plays a part.
