Mine is 27.6 but like you Kate I don't pay much attention it... I'm pretty muscly in my legs and butt (oh the joys of playing hockey!) so I tend to not agree with mine. I go more off my clothes size and measurements.

Yep, BMI tends to overestimate, and muscle weighs more than fat. So if you are quite muscly (e.g. a rugby player) often your BMI might be really high, but you're not overweight.

It's really best to go off measurements...

34.7. I was horrified to find out I was obese, cos I don't think that word applies to anyone the size I am. Overweight, yes, but not obese. And I do pay attention to it, cos I need to acknowledge that due to me height, I can never weigh what some other people on this site are aiming for, like 50kg or such. It helps me keep it realistic.

Ah yes, the BMI is really good as a guide. If your BMI is 30, and you're NOT a rugby player - you probably are overweight.

It's also good to know what weight you should be approximately for your height - as Marti said - I know that 50kg would be unhealthy for me, and 70kg is a good weight, but for someone else 70kg is overweight!

Yep, I would be overweight at 70kg - my BMI would be 27 then  I think my "overweight" (BMI 25) weight is 65kg.

I like to use it to work out my minimum weight, as I don't think it would be good to go below 18.5 (as if I could ever get there anyway  ) I've read anything from 18.5 to 20 as being the lowest of the normal range, so I choose to believe the lower LOL.

For me, tell you what, 20.6 or whatever it is now, FEELS overweight  So it also depends what weight you feel happy at as well...

29.3 - borderline obese ....

I don't pay much attention to the BMI thing though. At my goal weight of 55kg, I'll only JUST be inside the healthy range (I'll be very close to 'overweight'). Yet having been that weight before I KNOW I'm an 8-10 and very slender.

I read in the health section of the Sunday paper that women should go by their waist measurement. If it's above 90cms then they should have concerns as health problems arise.

Argh – reading things like this just confirms to me how fat I actually am :(
Start weight - 77kgs
Goal weight - 53kgs
Current Weight - 50.1kgs

No more weighing, no more scales. My measurement is my success at health. It's an investment I make every single day. My priority: be healthy!
