I quit

Postby yellowroses » Sat Nov 10, 2007 3:46 pm

Ok, I started attempting to lose weight about 3 months ago, when I joined this forum. Then after about a month, I quit. I couldn't take it because I was putting on weight still even though I was 'doing everything right'.

I've decided to give it a go. I've forced my fiancee into forcing me to walk, hide chocolate and make sure that I don't cheat until it gets to the point where I'm doing it for myself. So far, he's done really well, forcing me to go for hour long walks every night and making sure I'm eating properly. This week I lost 1kg and I'm feeling good.

I've set my goal at losing 40-42kgs in the next 18months, which, I found out means that I have to walk 8kms a day and lose 2.33kgs per week. I then went and bought a treadmill which should be at my home in about a week, and I'm gonna walk that 8kms every day, I'm gonna do this even if it kills me.

I've always wanted to lose weight, I've always been big and I've always been picked on for it. But now I'm gonna do it, for my health, to look better and to look fabulous on my wedding day!

Just felt like getting that out! Thanks!

Hi congratulations on making the decision to give it another go :) You sound like you have a great plan :) My only concern is that you are aiming for a loss of 2.33 kgs per week, that is a LOT of weight to lose in a week, and I think (genenerally) It will be hard to achieve week after week...for a woman, healthy weight loss of .5-1 kg per week is recommended :) I just dont want you to be disappointed if you ONLY lose .8 or 1kg, you know? (which Is a fab loss btw!) ppl do tend to have losses that are a little bgger in the first few weeks (generally its fluid) and then after that it will slow down... It may take a little longer, but if you aim for .5-1kg per week it is much more achievable, and it will be easier to maintain the loss :) xx

I know 2.33kgs per week is a lot, but 18 months is still 4 months before my wedding! About 2 years ago I lost 20kgs in about 8 months just by changing my eating habits and walking half an hour 3 times a week. I have kept my eating habits the same basically since then, eating well, just indulging in too many deserts too often. I've stopped doing that now, and I figure if I walk a heap I should be good. I don't really mind if I don't hit 65kgs, even 70 - 75 would be fine which is what I was when I lost that weight a couple of years ago and I was really happy with how I looked! I just don't want to be a size 20 on my wedding day!

Hi yellowroses 2.33 Kgs per week is a lot as has been pointed out but I think you have your sums wrong and mean 2.33 Kgs per month! (18 months * 2.33 which equals 42 Kg which certainly is achievable and is probably what you meant.

If you walk 8km a day it will mean you spend minimum of 75mins a day at 6km an hour which is a good rate to lose weight. Make sure you also keep to your daily calorie limit which will increase with the amount of exsecise you are doing and try to watch your fat intake. If you do as you say you will be losing up to a kilo a week and will have your weight knocked off a lot sooner than eighteen months.

Look forward to seeing your progress and good luck.

Love your determination and I know in the future I will be reading your success story!

Good on you for not giving up!!! WELL DONE!!!

You just need to find what works for you. I tried everything until I found calorie counting and lost about the same amount of weight you are aiming to lose and I was always big. My point is YOU CAN DO IT ........YOU WILL DO IT!! :D
