its very confusing to start with! the 1810 calorie king tells u should be maximum, you dont have to eat that much if u dont want to, but dont drop below 1200, thats the bare minimum :)

I dont to calories I do points by WW but its pretty much the same principle.

With WW you can "save" points to use on other days within the week. So I am sure if you do the same sort of thing with calories I dont think it would be an issue, and like Jewles said, as long as you don't go too low.

Hey

I know it's confusing.....I shaved off about 50 -100 calories of what was recommended. I NEVER would go below 1,200.

Just try it for a week and the re-assess.... we are all different. You may find eating the maximum is best for you or you may find shving off 50-100 calories works for you. We are all different! Hang in there....you will get the hang of it, promise :D

Don't worry about going over by 100 calories.....just take 20 calories off each day for 5 days...... that equals 100 calories.

Oh, I have take away once a week and count it into my calories.

I am dribbling now...sorry!

Are you drinking water?

I may be wrong...but i dont think so...
the calories they say you need assumes that you are walking 45 mins each day....
they said i need 1750 cal p/day but i never eat that much unless i go off and eat something naughty....
i end up eating about 1300-1500 cal

Thank you very much.

I am drinking heaps of water. I have a very active and hot job so i drink about 2Ltrs at work. At home i drink between 1 and 2 ltrs depending on my mood.

I love this plan it is really helping me to control how I eat. I have come to realise I was, on top of Breakkie lunch and dinner, eating at least 6 slices of bread a day (toast, mmmmm) Instead now i have only 4 max(multigrain mmmmm. I was eating approx. 10 slices a day before, with lots of margarine and vegemite or stacks of crunchypeanut butter)

I will try and stick to around 1500 then and see how i do. =D

I have a question: is that 1200 calorie minimum affected by exercise? My plan at CalorieKing.com.au has me eating 1300 calories per day, but once the calories burned by exercise are subtracted some days I can end up well below 1200 calories. Is this potentially harmful?

Nope it’s the NET calories that count.

You need to have a deficit to lose the weight.

The exercise cals are there just in case you go over.

Well that's my understanding of it anyway. I may be wrong

I don't add in my exercise, and save a few cals for the weekend. This worked for me last time that I was using CK and hopefully it will work this time - except for my lack of willpower (see confessions).

I can tell you that when you exercise you should actually eat more because you need the energy....it sounds weird...and i never end up eating more myself....having said that for me it allows me to have something extra that day.
I remember reading in the forum that one girl was eating less than recommended and exercising a lot and still wasnt losing weight....someone told her that she should be eating more...so she did and found she actually started to lose weight that way....

i think it depends on the individual, i dont eat my excercise calories because i find 1500 cals gives me enough energy even with doing the excercise, but i guess if someone was eating 1200 a day and spending 2 hours at the gym they would need to eat a few extra, the important thing is dont eat the extra cals just because u can! if your hungry then have something healthy to munch on, no eating chocolate bars just cause u think u need energy!

Thanks for the replies, everyone. So far I've been using my spare calories for alcohol, but I don't think that's what I'm supposed to be doing! I'll add some more food in if I feel hungry or if my metabolism starts to kick up a stink.

as jewels said...its not an excuse to go overboard....however because you are exercising you may feel you need the energy and you may not its up to you....all i know is athletes eat a heck of a lot of food but then theyre athletes arent they!
