Berocca

Postby grugwashere » Wed Jan 02, 2008 1:22 pm

This may be a stupid question, but its better to ask than break my head lol...

is berocca good for you in terms of sugar etc... i tried to look it up on calorie king but it didnt have it listed and the container doesnt state the amount of kj's per disolved tablet... I only had one today because I havent slept, but one of the ladies at work drinks berocca to help keep her alert... so anyway

Is berocca bad for weightloss?

I think it's actually sugar free (or you can get a sugar free variety).

I love a Berocca after a night on the booze :P
Just keep moving! And don't be lazy...

Yeah I think they're sugarfree. I use the Berocca Performance one and it tastes nice and is also sugarfree. If it actually keeps me alert is another matter, although the same can be said about the energy drinks such as V and Red Bull.

So in terms of energy, it should be very little so it won't contribute in terms of calories. However, having sugarfree drinks as a substitute for sugary drinks doesn't mean it's good. I've heard a bunch of stories about how the sweetening chemical is bad for you, although I still keep to sugarfree if I really had to.

There's sugarfree V and Red Bull as well if that interests you...

I'm pretty sure it contains artificial sweeteners and no sugar, at least with the Orange 'Performance' flavour. I normally take a Berocca each day, but I ran out so I don't have a packet to check I'm afraid. I'm pretty sure it has the usual warning about phenylaniline on it, though.

Which flavour have you tried? I find the Tropical and Regular flavours awful. I love the Performance (orange) one great, though.

I found this if its any help:

How many calories are there in a Berocca tablet?
A Berocca effervescent tablet contains 5.25kcals. A Berocca film-coated tablet contains 0.56 kcals.

It might be a good thing. I don't think caffeine does you any good, since it only gets you going temporarily. It's bad for blood pressure as well, so I guess you're better off without it.

I reckon orange flavour for Berocca is the best, although I got the tropical one just to try it. Don't know where you're from, but you can get the Berocca twin pack from the Flemington Markets at Sydney for $10 ($5 off the price at Woolies etc).
