Postby ranger 2 » Wed Jan 02, 2008 9:41 pm

Hi all,

I am having real trouble loosing weight and when I do loose it I put it straight away. I'm becoming really frustrated that what I do loose I put back on. Any advice?

TIA

Hi Jodi - I think the key is to start making small changes to your lifestyle, things that you can keep doing forever. This might be starting to drink more water, then adding a bit of exercise (or a bit more) into your daily activities, then reducing the sugary stuff in you diet. If you do these things gradually, I reckon you've got a greater chance of success than making sudden dramatic overnight changes.

By setting small goals and achieving them, you'll be empowered by the feeling of success, rather than feeling like a failure when you eventually slip up on your "diet".

So what's one thing you can do tomorrow to set you on the right path to a happier and healthier future?

Thanks for your replies. I can start drinking more water and it has been really hot here in Adelaide so I have not been walking. I haven't tried any programs as I'm still breastfeeding and they recommend that you don't join any weightloss programs.
I am really keen to start doing yoga I'm hoping that will give me the will power to loose weight. When I walk I feel so good but I have lost the motivation to go not making excuses the weather hasn't been helping.

Great idea to up the water intake tomorrow :)

Getting back into yoga sounds grand. How old is your baby?

Hopefully the weather will cool soon and you can go for a walk without fear of heat exhaustion! But, any chance of an early morning or evening walk?

The heat doesnt help, but I find going later in the evening it has cooled down enough to still be comfortable. Having said that I don't have a bubby so this may not be suitable for you.

Yoga sounds like a great idea, as does starting your water intake. Small steps will get you there :D

Hi Milkyway

DD is two and keeps me very busy. Yes I can walk in the early morning with DD in the pram. How can I stay motivated to walk every day?

Have walking every day as a long term goal (great stuff!), but for this week - just aim to get two or three walks in.

Is there some small reward (not a food reward!) you could give yourself for going for the walk? Or do what Mandie does and have a star challenge so that every day you walk you get a star, after 10 or 20 stars you get <insert reward here> :)

Just a few ideas - I'm sure you'll have heaps.
