If you are very overweight maybe aim for a BMI of under 25? So that your in the healthy range?

Or is there a weight that you used to be where you were happy at?
Starting Weight: 62kg Current Weight: 55.0kg Goal Weight: 54kg

For me I figured out what my healthy BMI range was and decided that the upper weight (68kg) of that range would be my first mini-goal. There are many sites online that will help you find out your healthy BMI.

As many will tell you BMI is a pretty inaccurate way of determining ideal weight since it doesn't take muscle mass into consideration, but it's a start.

Unless you are an athlete, body builder or a weightlifter BMI is a pretty good indicator of what weight you should be.

Or you can go on google and find a height/weight chart, thats also a good start.

I use the WW weight chart and I am 175cm. Our healthy weight range is 61 - 76kgs.

Hope this helps :)

So just say you are 176cm tall, and you want to aim for a mid range BMI.

BMI between 18.5 - 25 HEALTHY

So to have a BMI of 22 your target weight would be 68kg.

So at your height, 68kg would be a good goal and a slim BMI. But its really a personal thing.

What do you want? To be healthy? Slim? Muscly?

I don't really have a target weight either. Anything less than what I am now is my first target!! :D

I'm aiming more for a dress size than a weight at the moment because what I have to loose just sounds so daunting!
I'd like to be about a size 14. At the moment I'm about a 20/22 on top and 18 on the bottom.

I remember wanting to diet for a holiday when I was about 17 and I was 13st 7lb / 85kg then (10 years ago!) I have a photo of me at that weight and would like to get lighter than that...

I swear I replied to this! But it may have been when the server went silly yesterday!

In answer to your question, loveat, I want to be healthy. And slim. And muscly. lol.

Mostly I want to be healthy, look good and be fit.

Thanks for all of the advice. I weighed myself when at the gym yesterday, but will wait until I go to WW on Saturday week before I set my goals etc properly. That said, then I will have lost a kilo or so before I get there. Maybe I will keep last nights figure in my head a bit.

And I think working with smaller goals is helpful. Maybe 5 kilo goals, or 10. Hmmm. Need to think some more!

Thanks! That is what I am aiming for too. And will see how I go!

I think I need some mini goal tickers so I dont get depressed about the long long stretch of sand that the poor swimmer has to swim across!

Setting mini goals is great! Maybe start with 5kg goals and at the end of each goal give yourself a non food related treat. Some ideas are a haircut, a yoga DVD, new pair of sunglasses etc
Saying goodbye to calorie counting AND scales for a while.

Just enjoying the new and improved healthy me and embracing my new lifestyle!
