I never by bread with additive 282 as I heard negative comments about it. I gather this is some preservative which means they can have it sitting on the shelf for some ridiculous time, 3 weeks or something. Food should be able to go off or it's plastic isn't it?

Thanks bferbear that nmight be what I am thinking about. Surely can't be good for you?? Anyway I buy my bread from local baker or farmers market to ensure no preservatives involved! It might be worth getting a bread maker...?
