I have made some fairly wholesale lifestyle changes in the last 3 months, and they were having a negative impact on my digestive system. A friend of mine regularly goes for one and she recommended I go and see them.

I don't feel all that different right now, nor was I expecting to, but I do feel a little more "comfortable" would be the best word to describe it. Today was more about a general consultation and a preliminary checkup before I have the targeted sessions, so we will see how I feel Wednesday evening after the next one.

LMAO Fiona, a nightmare, definitely a nightmare.

I must be gay. I meet the two requirements. I felt relaxed after a massage from a male masseuse, and I didn't run screaming from the room before a colonic irrigation. Those are the two telltale signs aren't they. Maybe thats why me and the wife broke up, she knew all along!!!!

I had this one once. Unpleasant experience. best cleanse was this chalky one bowel cleanse from health food shop.

What are you mainly having it done for?

detox kits work really well (TNP detox) and are less expensive..

This is what i read about it that scared me an stoppe me for having further treatments.

Potential Dangers

Colonic irrigation can potentially cause severe adverse effects and must be carefully administered. People receiving frequent treatments may absorb too much water, leading to electrolyte imbalances in the blood, nausea, vomiting, heart failure, fluid in the lungs, abnormal heart rhythms or coma. Infections have been reported, possibly because of contaminated equipment or as a result of clearing out normal colon bacteria. There is a risk of bowel perforation (breakage of the bowel wall), which is a severe complication. Deaths have been reported.

Colonic irrigation should not be used in people with diverticulitis, ulcerative colitis, Crohn's disease, severe or internal hemorrhoids or tumors in the rectum or colon. It also should not be used soon after bowel surgery (unless directed by your health care provider). Regular treatments should be avoided by people with heart disease or kidney disease (renal insufficiency). Be sure that the equipment used is sterile and that the practitioner is experienced. Colonic irrigation should not be used as the sole treatment (instead of more proven therapies) for severe conditions, and it should not delay consultation with a qualified health care provider for a potentially severe symptom or illness.

****Update******

After a consultation with my GP I have cancelled the rest of the colinic appointments. She advised me to not continue with it until after my next appt with my Renal Specialist to get his view on continuing with it. She did say whilst she didn't feel that it was as medically viable as its practitioners deem it, she didn't think it would cause any harm, but best to see what the specialist thought before taking it further.
