ok well im back from my dr's appoinment and he gave me the referral YAY lol .. i just called the clinic to book my appoinment with the Dr and my appointment is on may 21st , the lady on the phone told me that it will be a minimun 18 MONTH waiting list to get the surgery done  , i was in shock because a women who i spoke to not that long ago who went through this same dr only waited 3 months to get it done, so i knew that i would have to wait but i didnt expect this long, oh well i cant be piccy im going to have to wait 1 step at a time.

Hey Charli hun,

Just want to offer you my support :D .

This is definitely no easy way out. It's such a huge lifestyle change and I would say harder to deal with. For instance when things get incredible bad for you emotions wise and you aren't prepared to deal with them up front and go to have a binge to hide away from that emotion it will be impossible for you to do so (not saying that this is something you do or will do, just an example :D ). So with everything else the surgery brings you'll have lots more to deal with, because you won't have opportunities to fall of the wagon and get back on so to speak.

Holy, I can be a bit of a binge drinker  its been a good 1 and a half months since I've touched alcohol and I think with one drink I'll be a drunken bum  anyway back on point, you'll also be limited on the amount of alcohol you can have too

You still need to have good healthy food to get the nutrition your body needs. So its definitely not an easy way out by allowing you to eat crap food and still lose weight. Its just an aid, an internal portion control to help you on your weight loss journey.

As you were saying, 18mths is a long time to wait and also time enough for you to lose some or a lot of weight. Hopefully all goes well for you when you see the surgeon next month sweets :D

Hey
Im new to this forum so forgive me if my questions have already been answered.
Im seriously considering lap band surgery not as an easy way out. Ive been on so many diets lost the weight but just put on more later. Now I have type 2 diebetis and high blood pressure and feel that this operation could save my life and give me more time with my children. My husband is ill so my family need me but this isnt the only reason why im considering this. Im doing this for me, my confidence is low I dont go out cause im so ashamed of my weight (i weigh 130kgs). So my questions are: is it worth $12000? and does anyone know any good doctors in the liverpool/campbelltown area?
Thanx guys[color=#FF40FF]

Personally if I had that sort of money I would be putting it towards a personal trainer, a dietition, and a nanny to look after my son while I go to the gym and diet appointments!
Is there a medical reason why you cant lose the weight? If there is then this might be your only option but surgery of any kind should not be taken lightly, there are seriouse risks to your healthy and safety not just the financial loss. If there is no underlying medical issues then you need to work hard at this and maybe see someone- if it keeps comming back on then your going back to old habbits, why is that? if you have lost the weight in the past then you know you can do it again so I would suggest putting that money towards a counceller/psycologist (sorry, bad spelling) to discuss any underlying reasons. I did it and was finally able to start losing weight and its not comming back on this time.

I have been through so many surgeries so I know how hard it is- I would prefer to do ANYTHING else before I go through another one and definatly would not chose to do it if I had any other options.

But thats just my view- at the end of the day you need to do whats best for you and your family.
