What is a dress size?

Postby yellowroses » Wed May 07, 2008 10:03 pm

Ok, this is something that I've been wondering about for a while - even before beginning to lose weight.

What is a dress size exactly? Is it say when you go from a size 14 to a size 13, or is when you go from a size 14 to a size 12?

I know that it sounds like a stupid question, but it's really confusing :?

Hhhmmm....I generally think of it as a 14 to a 12 as there aren't a huge number of designers who make the in between sizes...

Thats only me though!
SW - 75.9
CW - 68
Happy weight - 68 (I MADE IT!!!)
GW - 65 (for now - and until I conceive!)

Yes I would say going from a 14 to a 12 is dropping one dress size.

I agree with the girls, although there is such differences between shops and their sizing! I found it best to choose one shop (eg Target) and only use their sizes as a guide to my progress, because im a 10-12 there but a 14 in some other shops!!!!
Highest Weight - 93kgs
Current Weight - 68.3kgs
Goal Weight - 65kgs

The wise man Stephen King once said - The only way to go on, is to go on. To say 'i can do this' even when you know you cant

You'll find me in the almost there section :)

I wish people would make inbetween sizes I need a 17!

16 is still too small and 18 is too big! I look like I'm wearing clown pants

I agree with the others one dress size is 18 down to a 16 etc

Ditto with the other ladies.

Also its about 6-8kgs between dress sizes. Though it does vary from store to store. A lot of stores are now catering to vanity and the sizes have gotten bigger without changing...one of my pet hates lol.

I know with designer sizes they do in between sizes
Start weight - 77kgs
Goal weight - 53kgs
Current Weight - 50.1kgs
