Nintendo Wii Fit

Postby jac33au » Fri May 09, 2008 1:19 am

So as some of you might know Nintendo's Wii Fit is out.

What is Wii Fit?
The short version is: Wii Fit is a game for the Nintendo Wii (game console) and uses a unique platform peripheral called the Wii Balance Board that can measure a user's weight and their center of gravity, and calculate their body mass index when told the user's height. The game has about 40 different activities, including yoga poses, push ups, and other exercises.

Wii Fit tracks a user's "Wii Fitness Age" through a daily body test basing the result on the user's current age, weight, and athletic ability.

The full details are http://www.nintendo.com/wiifit/en/#/home/
WiiFit's Home page http://www.nintendo.com/games/detail/hoiNtus4JvIcPtP8LQPyud4Kyy393oep#overview
And the video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5oNVIcMnZh4

So basically i got it today. I measured up @ 112.5kg, a bmi of around 37 and poor posture from the COG test. lol

When you set yourself up in the game it asks you for a goal and a time frame to get to it and coaches you along the way.

You have a range of activities available straight from the box and you unlock more as you play and put time into the bank. The activities are Yoga, Muscle Training, Aerobics and balance training. You can also log your own daily activities into it when you do your daily training.

Anyway its heaps of fun, Cassie(cac33) got right into it.

I know a couple of you have a Nintendo Wii already, so those of you should grab this game. Its rrp is $149 but you can pick it up in most places for $118 to $124

For those who dont have a Nintendo Wii, go get one. They are NOT just for kids, in fact the avg age of console owners in Australia is 25 and being put into many nursing homes around the world. The Wii retails for $388-$400.

I want it but with us moving to the states in a few months there's no point so we will wait till we get over there.

Its both. The balance and aerobics are quite fun. Things like downhill skiing and tight rope walking are in the balance one and running on the spot behind a "trainer" and hula hoop spinning are some of the aerobics ones. The Yoga is quite hard as you must keep your center of gravity in a circle on the board during each move but very satisfying, giving pretty good instructions on breathing and the exact moves. Then the last one is muscle work outs and the only one ive done (and very clearly struggled at, which the wii fit didnt hesitate to inform me of either) was push ups.

I tried to buy one today but they were out of stock at KMart :(

I got a raincheck as they're on special for $119 - is that a good price?
