Late night snacking

Postby stephyg » Tue Jul 08, 2008 2:10 pm

Does anyone else find that they are extremely hungry at night? Does anyone have any useful tips on how to avoid snacking or eating large portions in the evenings? Thanks!

This is one of my problem areas as well.

Here are some of the things that work for me:

1. I eat a snack at about 5pm (usually protein, like some tuna) to stop me being starving
2. We then eat dinner at 7.30pm ish.....
3. After dinner I brush my teeth.......this stops me snacking on crap.
4. If I do "need" something else (ie I am not actually hungry but my brain is telling me that I need a "little something" I have either fruit or a chuppa chup lollypop..........
5. Drink more water
5. If I don't buy it from the shops, then it is not in the house, then I can't eat it.........LOL!

I have this problem. I agree with Strawberry, distraction distraction distraction. When I'm having a really bad night for caveings, I put some Ben Lee on the sterio and spaz dance along. Only when nobody's looking of course.

LOL @ spaz dancing!! Haha, I tried that once but I scared the cat!!!

Here's all the things I have tried (and failed), maybe some ideas in there....
- Lock the pantry and the fridge after dinner
- Turn the lights off in the kitchen so I can't find the food
- Sit on the floor with my hands on my head lol
- Put all the tempting foods on the top shelf where I can't reach them
- Paint my nails or dye my hair (obviously that would not work every night haha)
- Clean my teeth
- Appetite suppresants

Trying at the moment....
- Drinking water
- Burning incence candles

Yet to try...
- Taping my mouth shut with masking tape!!!!!!

sometimes this doesn't work. today i've learnt its best 2 keep on going as if there was no slip up. Doing it this why will minimise damage & any other binges.

Thanks for the tips. I guessed I've realised that it is mind over matter. I have a glass of instant ovaltine now, which is better than the cakes, icecream and cookies :)
