My bfs dad has just been diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes and is wondering if meal replacement shakes are a viable option to help lose some weight. He is going to see a person next week about what he can and cant have but any advice from you guys would be great.

i wouldnt recommmend weight loss shakes all together, however alot of them are designed with a low GI focus which is good for diabetics. it would be best to see a doctor before starting any weight loss program, and seeking advice from a nutritionist or dietician on low GI foods.

I'd recommend he see a doctor or a dietician, or even the pharmacist about the shakes. Some of them are great for diabetics, Optifast in particular I think is what doctors usually recommend.
