What is your favourite fruit and vegetable?

Postby kj1 » Sun Oct 05, 2008 11:04 am

Hi All,

I'm looking for ideas to keep my healthy eating interesting.

So, what is your favourite fruit and vegetable?

I like,

Fruit - Rockmelon (cut up and in the fridge, ready for a quick snack, I can't wait for them to come into season)
Vegetable - Brussel Sprouts (I can hardly believe I have grown to love them!, I have a new respect for them as they are very flavoursome!)

Fruit, I can't really say as I love most stone fruit, melons, mango and avocado but they must be the Hass variety.
Veg, probably corn.

I hardly eat any fruit, I only like apples (granny smith's) and banana's. Apples are preferred as we're talking about real fruit, banana is preferred when this topic would be about favourite milkshakes ;)

Vegetables... That's a hard one, when I find out which my favourite is, I'll post again.

Hi Freddy,

I like apples too (Pink Lady's are my fav.), I can totally recommend trying some new types as they are low in calories and fill you up (can also keep the diet interesting).

Someone told me that you need to try a food 8 times before you can truly decide wether you like it or not. I did this with watermelon last year and it worked. I have always hated them but really like them now, ate them almost every day last summer. (I haven't been brave enough to test the theory on mushrooms yet though!).

Today I am having strawberries and sweet corn on the cob to mix up my diet a bit as I haven't had them for ages.

My favourite fruit would have to be the strawberry with mangos coming in a very close second.

My favourite vegetable is pumpkin and sweet potato!

I cant just choose one!! :P

Hello hello

My fave fruits are Pink Lady apples and Peaches when they're in season...I tend to get a little addicted to them...which I suppose isn't a bad thing, there are worse addictions...

Vegies are Carrot, Eggplant (<- awesome substitute for Lasagna sheets in a lasagna) and Cucumber. I'm having a slight affair with cooked mushrooms atm also...

:D

I love your idea about the eggplant instead of lasagna sheets (as I love lasagna) I am definitely going to try it!

For me, it's easier to pick the ones I don't like!

I don't like cucumber, it tastes like watermelon skin.
I don't like raw onion or mushroom, these items are best consumed cooked in my opinion!
I hate pears, the texture freaks me out.
I don't like passionfruit because I can't stand the seeds.

Bananas. They improve your mood, your eyesight, your energy and keep you alert.

Bananas ended up being the most readily available, tasted best in my drink, and all of the benefits described in this answer sound exactly like what I need in the morning right before classes.

I love lasagna too. I found the recipe online...somewhere, don't ask me where, but they called it something different. You've got to make sure you get a decent sized eggplant tho, and cut it reasonably (but not paper) thin. It tases awesome and get rid of my pasta craving...without actually eating pasta - thus, not breaking my (*shudder*) diet.

I can't stand cooked mushroom, i love it raw but when its cooked it the texture make me feel sick!

I love mangoes, berries, kiwi fruit, necterines, dragon fruit, mandarines, green apples (i hate that you shouldn't have more then 2 pieces of fruit a day!)
i love red capsicum, tomatos, broccoli, carrots, zucchini (never use to), snow pea, beans well i just love my vegies too!
