WHY IS IT SO?!?

Postby Hayley » Fri Jun 02, 2006 11:36 am

I was just thinking:

Why is it that loosing weight is such a difficult task, yet it is so easily and quickly put on?!? It's not fair. :x

If only it worked the the other way - so easy and quick to lose but so difficult to put back on.

That's life I guess- but I think it stinks!!!

Yes how true, it's unfortunate the food becomes part of our body and is so stubborn to remove.

Be as light as a feather this weekend.

Now for the technical answer.

I think it's because our bodies were designed/evolved (depending on your world view) to survive on much exercise for relatively little/sporadic food supply (think spending all day hunting a rabbit/picking berries and wheat grain by hand).

Therefore the body quicly turns to storing energy whenever it can.

Yep, agree, very unfair.

And why does unhealthy food taste so good - can imagine how much easier losing weight would be if it was the reverse, we craved vegetables instead of chocolate, takeaway vegie soup instead of KFC. How wonderful would that be, we'd all be as thin as rakes! Reckon then we'd have the problem of keeping weight on - life is never simple, reckon if it was it would be boring :D

Unfortunately it's hard to lose weight and equally hard to keep it off! I have found that the more unhealthy food you eat the more you have to keep eating it. Like an addiction. If we could focus more on being healthy than losing the weight this is something that definitely works. It's a battle but it's one worth winning.

losing means we intend to find it again..

Postby clare » Sun Jun 04, 2006 2:01 pm

heard on a weight loss cd that our brains try to find things we loose...eg car keys and weight... therefore when we loose weight we generally try to find it again....(or rather... my hips do!)

well then we shall have to replace 'lose weight' with 'get healthy' .
