This is beyond a joke now. I really think we need to block new members from posting until their initial posts can be moderated. While it would be inconvenient for genuine people signing up to the forum, right now we've got the same porn spammer creating multiple new threads even as the old porn-spam threads are being deleted.

I don't think that simply allowing moderators to ban users would be enough. I'd guarantee the same old spammers would just sign up with a different username if they were banned.

they need to do something, ive sent scott a couple of e-mails so im sure he will sort something out!
alot of forums make u e-mail them asking permission to join so you know they are genuine people not spammers
it might scare a few people off joining but if it gets rid of the spam its well worth it!

maybe just allow people to post initially in the 'Introductions' section until they are able to request membership to the rest of the site- that way for those who are put off by providing email details can still become members.

Please don't not report the posts because it takes time. Think of us poor mods who have to find them and then delete them - trust me, it takes us waaay longer than just reporting a post :(

Unfortunately my PM to admin hasn't been read yet. I'll give him another day to respond before I hunt down an alternative email address.

Normally I have no problem with reporting spam. The time it takes isn't the issue. Unfortunately you need to actually click on the thread and view it to hit the 'report' button. Understandably I'm loath to open any thread at uni which is obviously pornographic. I have no idea if the current mass-spammer has put images in there or just links, but I'm afraid I can't risk it. Sorry about that.

I hope this gets sorted quickly.

Yeah, understand re the porn posts, but the 30+ threads I deleted today were just links.
