Gaining in odd areas

Postby mumnbub » Thu Feb 12, 2009 6:50 pm

I noticed this the other day and now its just annoying me- I took my measurments and compared them with ones done a few months back. I have lost 10cm off my hips and was losing around my waist (up really high) but have in total gained 3cm there. I am now actually noticing it and its really annoying- but it actually now looks more in proportion to the rest of me. I did have an odd shape, big bust, small waist, big hips- now its all about the same.

Does anyone else notice things like this? everything is going down but that one area is increasing! maybe the fat from my hips is defying gravity and moving upwards lol. Could explain why in the same period I only lost about 3kg.

Could you be bloated because of something you ate? I can't think of any other way you'd gain centimetres around your waist while all your other measurements are decreasing. Well, that and pregnancy of course. But I'm assuming you're not pregnant otherwise the cause would be obvious!

Noo don't worry! If you have been exercising (including strength training) then your body shape will change to a more athletic (straight up and down) appearance. Well that's what my sister in law (who is a PT) says!

That's good to know, Fi. Thanks for that information! I've always wanted a figure like that so I'm quite happy to find that out!

I think it's because ur hip-waist ratio becomes smaller. That's what my first ever PT told me. In other words, ú'll lose from ur hips & waist, but probably more from ur hips. Maybe google "hip-waist ratio" :)
