Breakfast and not being hungry

Postby think - thin » Thu Apr 30, 2009 10:46 am

I know they say you should not skip breakfast but what if you just are not hungry at that time of day? Do you force yourself to eat or have a early lunch?

If the idea of breakfast really seems unstomachable at that time of the day, perhaps a 100% juice ( no added sugar of course) and use it as 1 serving of fruit for the day. If you make sure it has pulp in it it is a great source of fibre too. Or even a cuppa tea or even hot water with lemon? If you train your body to have something eventually it will come to depend on it, I used to be a smoker and NEVER ate in the mornings... but now I am in the habit of a green tea with lemon to kick start my body followed by my diet shake. I find my body really looks forward to it now and feel great for having something=)

I struggle with breakfast, this morning ive had a boiled egg and a cup of tea. I eat something more substantial later in the morning when its easier to stomach!

I used to be against breakfast as well. I found if I had breakfast i'd become starving at about 10am, whereas if i didn't eat breakfast i could go all day without eating. But you just have to get used to it. Now if I eat breakfast i'm not starving at 10am, my body has got used to it. I don't have a big breakfast though.

I went to American many yrs ago now for a holiday and did a swish tour of California at the time...every morning between 7-8am at each hotel we stayed at, there was a beautiful hot breakfast served full of everything and you just couldnt say no! Ever since then I've absolutely adored my breakfasts - it is my favourite meal of the day by far.

I'll never leave home without having something like a cereal (i love warm cereals) or light omelette on toast etc.

Goal weight: 60kgs

Ok so my Sydney trip is over and I've reached 64.2kgs - my next weigh in is in 2 weeks time so that whatever damage I did in Sydney will be done and dusted! I would love to lose 4.2kgs by Xmas time and I guess thats where my new goal begins :)

Starting the day with healthy breakfast foods is critical to keep your blood sugar levels stable, and preventing carbohydrate cravings from kicking in mid morning. Try having foods high in protein, or low in glycemic load such as cereal, wholegrain toast, eggs or baked beans. A fruit and yoghurt smoothis might be the go if you don't feel like eating anything first thing in the morning. Your body will adapt if you gradually train yourself to have breakfast.

breakfast is an imp meal. but then like as you said tht u dont feel hungry and opt for a early lunch.. i would not say tht its bad but thn its ok if it happens sometimes.... n to avoid this u should have an early dinner. thn hte next day you would feel hungry for breakfast...try it..
