Excuses not to diet

Postby Riayn » Wed May 20, 2009 5:16 pm

Thought it would be fun to see what everyone's excuses not to diet were before they came out of denial and realised that it was something they needed to do to lose weight and get healthy.

For me, it was that I didn't want to give up my favourite foods. I now realise that I don't have to give them up - just eat less of them, but for years, it was a huge excuse for me.

What were your excuses?

Mine were

* because I am tall its ok for me to weigh in the 70s
* because I still fit into a size 12 its ok
* some of my friends are bigger than me, at least I'm not them
* because my BMI doesn't put me in the overweight range I am ok
* my boyfriend still finds me attractive, and I still get other male attention, so it must be ok
* I am still fit and can play sport
* I am not fine boned like my mum therefore I am always going to be a heifer & may as well accept it!
* I dont eat that badly, and am still this weight, therefore its not going to make much of a difference

Because I already eat a healthy diet and get plenty of exercise so I couldn't have gained that much weight. It makes no sense. It must be bad lighting, a poor camera angle, a crappy mirror, clothing sizes getting smaller, etc...

Me too!!! Hahaha... I thought 'I have a really fast metabolism'. I knew a girl who could eat what she wanted and stay a size 8 so I was like "maybe I'm like that too." "Maybe I've got a lot of muscle mass."

HAHAH! standing up and being honest is the first step i think!

Mine was " I never had to exercise or watch what I ate a few years ago, I just need to start working again and it will just drop off me..." of course this was before I lost my 40hr a week very active job ( it was like a 8hr aerobics class) and smoked and was a 21yr old living out on my own ( so money normally went to going out on a Friday & Saturday night instead of alot of food.) Also I put on a few kilos and my poly cystic ovary syndrome kicked in and threw my whole system out and made my weight pile on and impossible to move.
