how could this be?

I weighed myself yesterday morning and I was 67 kilos, and this morning I was 68.1. Could those 2 glasses of wine and 2 muffins I had yesterday really add that much weight?? If so I am shocked!!!

Well, 2 glasses of wine, could be upto 300-400mL...
If one assumes the density of wine is slightly greater than that of water, you could be looking at 450g (approx).

There are many other factors, which is probably why its best to weigh once a week or so, rather than once a day so you can see overall net gains and losses.

Don't stress! It's not fat! It is vitually impossible to put on that much weight overnight. You have to eat 7000 calories over your maintenance calories to put on one kilo of fat. The muffins or sodium, if you had a bit of salt yesterday, are probably holding onto some fluid. It will probably be gone tomorrow if you drink heaps of water and watch your sodium intake today.

Definitely, there are so many factors into fluid absorption, how much you take out of the body and whatnot that the one day increase could be part of the body's cycle and not actually true weight gain.

And we're forgetting one important factor.... the inherent measurement variability of each set of scales. All measurement devices have a margin of error that could also be contributing to variations in reported weight on each weigh in. To demonstrate, I sometimes step on to my scales 2 or 3 times and get a different measurement each time within a couple of kilos and it changes if I shift my position on the scales or move the scales to a different part of the room.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).

I'm feeling the same, up 1/2 kilo and been eating very healthy... :evil:
Goal for 2016:
Current weight: 94 kilos
Starting weight: 102.5 kilos
Goal #1: 92 kilos
