Crikey 6 foot 3!! Ok now I feel short. Well if by 'well built' you mean muscular then the BMI can certainly be out. I am 157cm and the range for me is 46-62kgs. At 46kgs I would seriously look like I was in need of a feed I reckon. I started to feel really good around 65kgs so it comes back to how you feel and if you like what you see.

For me 'well built' is a large frame. I'm not or ever will be a bean pole like some tall people unless I hit the 'normal' range in the BMI!

Hi guys.
Darren, it might seem an impossible climb up the weight loss hill, but with support and encouragement from people in here, you will achieve it!!!!
I have a friend slightly heavier than you and same height, and he's losing with the help of 'reductil' and 'Optifast', and LOTS more exercise  Keep on trying ok?

Thanks for that Fiona,

I am now lucky to have a wonderful doctor who is very supportive of the process of losing weight & what it involves for the individual. My wife is also behind me & with you all here I'm sure I'll keep on the path!

lol.. according to the BMI calculator i am 24.9.. the heaviest i could be without being "overweight" however my doctor told me i was overweight and need to lose a fair bit..

i'd say the doc was quite right

i don't however agree with the low end of healthy weight which was 56.8kg for my height (175cm) - that weight would pretty much make me skin and bone-i'd look like i was either starving or seriously ill..

i reckon measurements and clothing sizes are the way to go, cos weight can vary so much depending on your build and muscle mass, the time of day and even how well hydrated u are!
Go team MAGENTA!!!!

Fiona, I'm the same height as you and when I lost weight a few years ago I was at 57 - 58 kgs and felt that was the right weight for me. Any thinner and it would be too thin. My goal is to get to 60. If I lost more than that then fine but hey 60 is fine and dandy for me. Hey 68 would be fine and dandy at the moment!!!

i'm glad theres someone my height out there groovychic. You got down to 57-58, wow, thats my ULTIMATE GOAL. I've really got to get myself on the 'losers wagon' again and just do it. I'd love to lose it by christmas day, would'nt that be great!!!. What size pants do people that weight wear? I'm size 10 in pants now, heck, maybe size 8 wow wow wow. Hope some comes off the top half as well, that would be sooooo cool
See ya around ok?

I was still a size 10 but I think they have made the sizes a bit larger since then. It was 5 years ago. I buy size 12 pants now and I am more than 10kgs heavier!!! It doesnt make sense! But yep you will probably be an 8 Fiona. I liked having things a little looser anyway, around the waist. I hate being cut into in the guts when you are sitting down.
