Zumba

Postby CrimsonThunder » Sat Feb 13, 2010 3:34 pm

Hey guys I'm gonna start Zumba today. If no one knows what it is its a dance style way to make you lose weight and tone up.

Has anyone else done this? I don't want to be the only one doing or have done this.

If anyone has is there any tips people have?

As its something new, I'm a bit scared to jump in there but I've had a quick look over the vids and it looks pretty fun (bit intimidating though)

Thanks everyone.

Hi!

I have done a ton of Zumba classes, are you doing classes or DVD's?

I have only done the classes so that is all I can comment on, but I totally loved it! I do an hour class and because of the high to low to high intensity I usually burn around 650-750cals, not too shabby!!

The only thing I found was I needed to by some different shoes for it. My trainers had way too much tread and kept gripping the carpet hurting my ankles, feet and making the moves hard to do. I bought some light weight Nike dance trainers and they are brilliant!

My tip would be to just have fun. As they say "join the Zumba dance party!" and that is exactly what it is!

Oh and my other tip is not to over do it. I was doing it 3 times a week and started to get sick of it. Because it is so great I cut back to once a week or even once a fortnight just so it would stay fun and not feel monotonous.
My journey so far...

Thats a very good tip and good to see you enjoyed it.

I'm not doing the class, i live in a country area of SA and even in SA they dont have any classes I think. So I'm doing the DVD.

The DVD has a 20min exersize and you did an hour one.. I think the DVD isn't as good...

They have classes at Ingle Farm, Munno Purra (spelling?), and some stared in Hove in March!

I'd come with you but with netball twice a week, PT once a week and a gym membership, I think I spend enough money on exercise!!
