Water, water, water!

Postby OhSheGlows » Wed Mar 17, 2010 10:56 am

Yes, we all know that water is important for weight loss but seriously on days when I'm not exercising and the tempreture is low I really struggle to get my water intake.

What are your tricks of the trade? I need some tips.

I have this problem too! One of the BEST things i have ever done, is spend $80 on a water filter stand up thing (you know, like the ones they have in offices) to put in my lounge room - it makes me drink SOOOO much more. I am the ultimate lazy girl - so if getting water means going to the kitchen, getting a cup, opening the fridge, pouring out the water jug, re filling it and then drinking it then i just dont do it! This way, all i have to do is walk over and press a button - genious!

Another thing that i have found really helps is, on those days when i just cant have more water, i trick myself into thinking that i am having a 'treat' by having a tall glass of soda or mineral water with a squeeze of lime or diet cordial - i can easily down four of these without feeling like i have had to 'force the water down'

Also, i know this is an old-hat trick, but have an ever-present bottle of water - in the car, at work, at home - and make deals with yourself - i.e "Whilst im driving to the shops i will have a sip of water at every red light' etc.

Actually, now that i think about it - I havent had much water today either - i better go have a glass now!

Hope that helps :)

I always have a bottle on my desk at work. Just keep taking sips all day long, usually go through 3 600ml bottles a day.

You will soon to love water...apart from a coffee or 2 water is the only thing I drink these days!

I take 2 x 1.5L bottles to work and drink them throughout the day. Every single day! I would say use bottles than then cups, so you know exactly how much you are drinking and that it is enough. When I was first starting I would say to myself that I would have to make sure I drank 1 bottle before 11.30am and the second by 3pm. I find drinking my 3L before 3pm is the because it doesn't keep me running to the loo during the night!

And remember, exercise water is bonus water! Try not to include it in your daily amount.
My journey so far...

I have a 1.5L bottle sitting on my desk. I look at it and feel so uninspired lol

I guess its just a matter of force feeding myself sips until it just becomes a habit.

lol, I'm with you. I dislike drinking water and have, for the past 25 years, drunk up to 50 cans of diet coke per week, every week  . I have now cut that out (since on my JC plan) and have had only 2 x 450ml bottles in the past two weeks) but I struggle to drink water.

We have a neverfail cooler in the house as well, and that has helped heaps, but I forget to drink at work so I have now put a reminder on my Outlook every hour to pop up and say "DRINK WATER!!!' and then I go out to the cooler and stand there and drink a whole glas...lol, desperater measures. I hope one day I enjoy drinking water, but I can't see it!
Changing my life, one ounce at a time.

I started this journey on Feb 2 2010 and though I would like to be a size 5 by June, I am prepared to accept that it might take a bit longer :D

Oh what a brilliant idea. I should put a reminder on my work outlook too.

I don't really focus too much on drinking a particular amount of water. I normally drink a glass of juice in the morning, and two coffees throughout the day. Then I just try to drink water every other time I feel thirsty. I often mix diet cordial in with mine, they have some really nice flavours. There is a diet iced peach tea flavour out that is really good. I think it's "Diet Rite" brand :)

As long as it is decaf, as caffeine is a diurectic, and therefore is dehydrating, so anything containing caffeine doesn't count!
