Hypnotherapy- Anyone tried it?

Postby divinemissj » Thu Aug 19, 2010 1:27 am

Hi All! I'm thinking about trying hypnotherapy to assist me in my journey to getting healthy and losing weight and I was wondering if anyone else here had tried it and what kind of experience they had, Thanks!

Hi there - I've tried hypnosis recordings downloaded from a reputable website called Hypnosis Downloads, run by an organisation called Uncommon Knowledge. I did some reading about the company and after trying quite a few of their hypnosis sessions, I can say that they're legit and not dodgey in any way. They have pretty sound ethics and their sessions are backed up by current research in the various fields of psychology and human behaviour. I do think that it helped me, as it really helps you identify problem situations in your life and retrains your mind in how to respond to them. After doing a few sessions, you start making decisions that reflect the positive mental practise and visualisation that you do in the hypnosis session. I would recommend it! Of course, if you decide to go to a real hypnotherapist, you'd need to make sure they're the real deal and have a good reputation.

hope that helps! :)

Yes, ive spent litrally hundreds of dollars on hypnotherapy. I went to two different hypnotherapists (at different times and different stages of my life where i have been overweight) and well i did have a small sucess with one as i dont crave hamburgers as much as i used to (still like them though).. i went to them to lose weight though and never really did. One of them gave me a CD to take home for self hypnosis after i spent so many sessions with her. It really was a waste of money for me.

Then i bought a weightloss hypnosis CD off ebay and that didn't help me in anyway either!

I guess it may work for some people, unfortunately i wasn't one of them.
Hope that the hypnosis suggested by kotobird works for you :) I' like to know the outcome from this.

Good luck.

I'm also considering giving hypnosis a red hot crack. My reasoning is that even though I have a pretty good understanding of why eat and can make really good specific plans, I have real difficulty implementing them in times of high stress (like, for example, writing a PhD thesis!). I see hypnosis not as a magic wand, but an extra tool to help me use my existing plans better. Will let you know if/when I do it.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

"You can't change the winds, but you can change the sails"

"Reach out and take control of what lands in your lap"

my boyfriends mum tried hypnobanding, which is lapband under hypnosis (so no actual surgery), and she said it works! She was told by her heart specialist that she needed to have lapbanding, but her GP said no because of all her other medical things.

I have seen an improvement in her weight, however (only saying this because she wont see this!) I dont think it is working as well as it should. In the beginning, her portion sizes that she could fit in dropped by 3/4 of what they used to be from the hypnosis, however now her portion sizes have gone back up and she has gone back to fatty foods.

So from what I can tell, it works if you choose to change your life with it and not look for a quick fix!
