Diet Shakes, Fruit and Frozen Meals

Postby BlueRaven » Sat Sep 18, 2010 6:26 pm

This is the third day of my new diet. I don't know how much I weigh, I'm too scared to get on the scales, but I went from wearing size 8 clothes at the start of the year to wearing size 16 because of binge eating due to my depression.

My new daily diet cosists of;

Breakfast: Diet Shake

Snack: Piece of Fruit

Lunch: Diet Shake

Afternoon Snack: Piece of Fruit

Dinner: Healthy Choice Frozen Meal between 1200 to 1600 kilojoules

My question is do others think this is a reasonable diet?

I agree shakes are a good weightloss kick start, but I just don't see it as a healthy option. You need to learn how to eat healthy not just to lose weight but to feel better :D
SW - 108.2kg
CW -102.8kg
Mini Goal be in double digits by the first weekend of november when we go away
GW - 68kg

Diet shakes are easy to use and quick replacements. First i tried Opifast but the taste wasnt good for me, then i tried Optislim which tasted far better and i got good results, very much in the same kind of diet structure your using.

Good job keep going and stay motivated.

Thanks heaps for your responses! I have no friends or family on a diet or interested in my diet and it is nice to discuss this with like minded people :D

Hi Raven -
Try and think of it as not neccessarily eating just to lose weight but to be healthy! It has taken me a while to change my mentality from what I see on the scales to how I feel on the inside.
Eat a good breakfast with lots of wholegrains, fresh fruit etc or some free range eggs poached with salmon and spinach nom nom then lots of water all day a big salad for lunch with lots of greens and some protein and if you feel like a piece of wholegrain bread that too - dinner nice grilled protein i.e. chicken or fish or small serve of steak with lots of veges.
Some yogurt and fresh fruit and raw nuts for snacks!
If you have depression omega three supplements can help - my partner takes them for depression and I have only just started but I find them very beneficial! I guess instead of thinking of the quick fix for weight loss think of it as a wholistic approach for your health :)
best of luck!!!!

I'm with Court. Ditch the shakes and frozen meals, they aren't necessary to lose weight and they don't teach you thing about losing/maintaining/health. Check out www.calorieking.com.au, it's free and teaches you how to make a lifestyle change, rather than just diet. I've lost over 45kg and CK made it a lot easier, because I get to eat real food!

Good luck!
