off the plateau

Postby sarafina777 » Sat Oct 21, 2006 12:55 pm

Hi guys,

I think I'm sliding off the plateau - finally! And am I just imagining it, or am I smaller around my waist now?! At least my health is looking up, even if other stuff in my life is quite negative at the moment. This one this is bringing me happiness.

Thanks guys for all your support!

excellent to hear!!!
now if I can just budge off mine..... funny how people keep telling me I look like I'm still losing weight when the scales don't say so. I'm not yet sure whether it's because I'm just toning up or because they are just saying what they think I want to hear.
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

Hey good job!

_are_ you getting smaller around the waist or toning up?

Why not do some measurements? they can show you better how your body is changing than those censored scales!

Measuring body parts is a good idea. Chest, hips, waist even legs and arms as then you will be able to see if other things are moving even if the scales aren't. I find some weeks my waist and hips stay the same but I seem to have a normal loss on the scales. The next week I will get hardly any movement in weight but my waist and hips will read smaller so at least I know I am making progress somewhere. It helps to keep me on track seeing some sort of success however small.

Hi yummymummy,

I didn't do anything in particular to get off my plateau, but I did hang in there. I got some good advice from Louise and others, about focusing on my health rather than my weight. I did find that I felt like I was floundering around though, with no concrete marker of my progress (towards health rather than weightloss). But you just have to hang in there, and know that it will pass. Also I read some posts I think Dolly, or Kim E, or someone put on a while ago about plateaus and how to get off them.

I actually noticed the difference after one day when I ate 'too much', and then got back to my normal diet/exercise routine, and the weight (much to my surprise) just came off. So I don't know if it was because of the shake up of extra food and change in intake, or if it was just my time to get off the plateau.

But know that there is a lot of support for you with this forum, and hang in there, it'll happen. Good luck!

body measurements

Postby sarafina777 » Mon Oct 23, 2006 6:36 am

Hi guys,

thanks for your support! I'm gonna get into body measurements now, forgot to buy a tape measure yesterday. I'll have to make do with a piece of string and ruler til then!

Thanks again guys, take care.
