My Top 5 Convenience Foods & Why.

Postby GlowOnline » Mon Feb 14, 2011 4:18 pm

These are the things I always have on hand so I don't get caught out.
The peanut butter balls replace biscuits and other sweet foods.
The protein pancakes are filling and I can train on them plus they are super clean.
The tuna and bean mix is always in the pantry and a quick fix if I am home late or need to squeeze in a meal in between running around.
The cottage cheese, berries and yoghurt is again filling and a good way to end the day as it stops the grazing and has lots of muscle repairing protein right before bed.
The cheese and apple hits the spot as a snack and who doesn't like cheese!!

Peanut Butter Balls
(1 cup peanut butter, 1/2 Cup honey, 1 Cup Oats, 4 Scoops Protein Powder, 1 Cup seed mix - roll into 20 balls and keep in the fridge)

Protein Pancake
(3 egg whites, 1/4 cup oats, 1 scoop protein powder, 1 small banana & cinnamon - blend till smooth and cook like a pancake). These can be eating hot or cold.

Tuna & 4 bean mix

Cottage Cheese, Jalna Yoghurt & berries

Mini Baybel Cheese & an apple

Try this:
1.Grate one peeled apple
2. Add honey and cinnamon by taste
3. Mix it all up
4. EAT it!

A great substitute for snacks! I love it

Convenience in terms of availability in my apartment:

Pasta
fudge Pops
oranges
Apples
granola bar

Fudge pops are my VICE. Never over indulging, always maintained..and the pasta is whole grain !

Thanks for these ideas!
Grated apple = SO going to try this, how refreshing
Could make it into a meal by putting it into wholemeal crepes!

My snacks are
Carrot sticks
Vitawheat rice crackers
Sultanas - when I crave sweet
Dark chocolate
Organic yoghurt w/ honey
Cup of tea
Light coffee
Brushetta
-toast rye (or other) bread
-chop up tomato, red onion, basil
-add a dash of balsamic vinegar
-put on toast

My own homemade biscuits
Wholemeal flour, egg, light butter or oil, optional small amount raw sugar
Falvours: add whatever you like
dark chocolate chunks & fresh rosemary
cardamom & lime
cinnamon & nutmeg
Make into small round ball-biscuits

Convinence meals
1. Wholemeal pasta & veggies
2. Veggies in veggie soup, little bit of asian noodles, light soy, worsteshire, rice vinegar, and finish by throwing in a poached egg
3. Poached eggs on toast with veggies
