Daily Energy Needs Query

Postby BigAndy » Thu Sep 27, 2012 12:59 pm

Just wondering if anyone can clear this up for me- When calculating your daily energy needs on the daily energy needs calculator, do you give your current weight or your ideal weight? I have given my current weight.
Also: I was calculated at needing about 3000 calories daily which included daily exercise. From the 3000 calories figure should I be dropping the calorie intake by say 500 calories for effective weight loss, or just not exceeding the 3000 calories?
Hope someone can help, I'm just a little unsure if I'm doing correctly.

Thanks :)

I should have read this first, I see now- I calculate my daily calorie requirements then cut them by 5-10% or maybe a little more depending on how fast I want to lose weight. I think I've now got it
So I'm thinking of max intake 2500 for me- Cool!!!

Andy, did you include or exclude your exercise in your 2500 per day?

Exercise included, I ticked the "Very Active" box as I'm running/jogging 5-15 km's every day.

Having another look I could actually go a few more hundred calories given recommended is actually 3500. Maybe 1000 less is too drastic? Anyway I'll see how I go.
