HOT CROSS BUNS!!

Postby SarahC » Thu Jan 04, 2007 12:03 pm

What is going on? I have just been down to my local Safeway (Woolworths for all the non-Victorians lol) and there was a huge pile of.... hot cross buns for sale

Far out, we are still in the process of digesting our Christmas food, and they are already trying to push Easter foods on us! Easter is still three whole months away

Yeah I saw them advertised in Woolies this week! Cannot believe it!! They just force one holiday after another on us. There always seems to be some special occassion in the shops to try and make people buy more. Trouble is, it usually works

You're right Chinta, I bet that as soon as the back to school displays come down, the Easter ones will go up!! Although, Easter will be here before we know it, the way time has been flying!

Our supermarkets didn't put out their Chrissy stuff till late November. I thought they must have finally figured out that people don't really appreciate them being so early. Guess I was wrong.

my aunty works for kmart and she said they get their easter stock in before the new year whilst the xmas stuff is on the shelves. so all those easter yum yums are sitting in storage until easter- makes you think of those rats that run around the back docks and loading areas doesnt it

 hehe I'd still go for the chocolate too! It tastes so yuummmy!

But I do agree.... they push one holiday straight after another one. I saw the hot cross buns in woolworths last weekend and thought it was way too early considering easter is in early APRIL!!

But of course, the Valentines day publicity will be along soon then. as that isn't far away going by retail time.

My family has started a tradition of not giving those yummy chocolate easter eggs to each other for easter and giving a small $10 or $20 gift instead. Well, maybe with one small chocolate egg - EASTER isn't EASTER without those scrummy eggs and those Hot Cross Buns.  :!:

Corporate cash ups!

Postby tiffanyp » Thu Jan 04, 2007 6:52 pm

Easter in January, Christmas in October! All commercialised garbage really!
All to make a dollar out of events that have nothing to do with shopping!

This Christmas my family chose to sponsor an Ethiopian woman to have an operation at the Fistula Hospital overseas (Cost $250.00AUS) instead of giving presents. We all honestly agreed that none of us really NEEDED anything (WANTING is a different matter all together) so we chose to Sponsor a woman so she can have a chance of a better life and that certainly made us feel great to think that we had given as a family to someone in need.
We have been sent information on her and we will be informed on her progress after the operation.

Our link with Ethiopia is through my niece who was adopted by my Sister and her Husband three years ago.

So bugger the Hot Cross Buns and all the garbage in Kmart and the supermarket as the big corporate moguls try to make us spend when we dont need to and lets start to think of others who do NEED our financial support.

Enough said, I sound like a politician.

What a wonderfull idea Tiffany

Those poor women in need of the opp are treated like outcasts. When they have the opp, they receive a new dress as well and leave feeling like a new person. Good on you and your family for giving someone their life back Image
