I make mine with wholemeal flour and just add mushrooms, a little bit of onion, sometimes chicken, capsicum, and only a little sprinkle of lite cheese. Satisfies the cravings and you know exaclty whats on it, unlike the ones baked in grease at the pizza shops!

Hi Bianca. I did try that once. I used Pita Bread as the base, spread Pizza Tomato paste over it, used low fat sliced ham slices, some chicken breast, lots of pineapple and mushrooms and light tasty/mozzerella.

Unfortunately it was really BAD! (And cost more than twice as much to make.)

The dog enjoyed it though.

Looking forward to your recipe Jewles!!

Shelli, I make a pizza with pita bread, pizza sauce, baked pumpkin, red salad onion, zucchini, capsicum, fresh mushrooms, a sprinkling of sliced black olives and a wave of low fat cheese over the top. It always disappears fast at my place. The baked veges give it a lovely sweet flavour, and the kids think it is great because it is like a "takeaway".

Thanks Judy, that sounds really good! I think it was the tomato paste I bought which destroyed mine. Maybe I could use a thin spread of 'Paul Newman' pasta sauce instead and add spices and fresh tomato instead? Also, substitute your olives for chicken breast?

Hmm, the ideas are starting to flow. Looks like I might be making my own pizza very soon!

Thanks everyone! :D

Kate we were talking about your cashew addiction today when reading all the supermarket dogalogs - they had 1kg bags of cashews for something like 12.95 a bag - now THAT is dangerous.
Every day I am getting thinner and thinner.....

i use pita bread with leggos pizza sauce (garlic and some herb flavour) with light tasty cheese and for toppings we use 97% fat free pepperoni, pineapple, ham, tomato, mushroom, capsicum and sometimes sundried tomato it seriously tasted better than a dominoes pizza! sooo yummy and without the greasy feeling
oh and for those calorie counters its about 400 cals when using a small pitta and about 900 using the big lebanese bread (enough for 2 people)

YUMMY! Although I think was the Leggos Pizza paste I used last time that I didn't like. I was thinking I could lightly sautee the mushrooms in garlic and a little olive oil before putting in the oven.

Oh, and I wasn't aware there WAS 97% fat free pepperoni? I used to buy the 97% fat free salami a while back, but it's disappeared from the shelves.

Anyway... Thank you so much! I've got my shopping list handy! Healthy pizza here we come!! :D
