Clothing sizes

Postby Julz » Fri Mar 16, 2007 9:31 pm

Hi all,

Its been so long since I have fit into anything smaller than a 22, currently I'm 26. I would like to have some rough idea of what weight you have to be to fit certain sizes. This would obviously be a very rough guide due to the different makes of the clothes and diferences in body shapes between people. I just wanna have some idea how much weight i need to lose to get into smaller sizes.

I'm a size 12 in skirts, shorts, trousers and jeans and a size 12-14 in tops.

I heard somewhere that a difference between clothing size is about 6kgs.Hope this helps.

hmmm well i learnt off the forum here that there are 6kg between sizes. i find that i fit nicely in size 12's and then some are too tight but the 14's are too loose. i used to be a tight 18 when i was 91 kg but i know some people around that weight who are in 14's and 16's. i reckon you should go out and buy a piece of clothing in the size you hope to be and use that as inspiration :)

I reckon that the 6kg rule of thumb is fairly right. I was a size 24, and have lost about 18kg (I don't know my accurate starting weight) and yesterday I went shopping and found a skirt, jeans, top and a dress, all in size 18 (the smallest that I have been in about 18 years - YAY). :D :D :D :D

Yeah I totally agree it just depends on your own body. At 126 kgs I was in a size 18 (though very tight) now at 102kgs I am in a size 16 which are not tight, but fit nicely. Even when I get to my goal (82 kgs) I will still be in a 16, (I guess its my height and bone structure, but at that weight Im just a more curvy 16 rather than a wobbily one  )

I am a 10 from the waist down and a 12 up top occasionally fitting into a 10 there too. The sizes vary too from shop to shop. A size 14 at one place is not necessarily a 14 at another.

Don't forget your height plays a big part here as well as your weight and body shape. I am 157cm or 5 foot 2 inches. What I mean is at my height when I weighed 70kgs I was still in a 14 but others who are taller may have been in a 12.

Its amazing how different bodies at different weights are the same size.

I am 86kg and am an 18 in most things. But I am short so I suppose I am bigger all over.

I hate that every store is a different size :x I just wish that every store were the same size it is so frustrating if you see somthing that you like & you are in a hurry you can't just buy it without always have to try it on first

I'll get them organized when Lolly has time to come and give me a hand - I am hopeless at a lot of the technical stuff, and she is really good at it. She has been a little busy lately.
