I reached my original goal today!

Postby ZelmaWA » Thu Apr 05, 2007 11:18 pm

I wasn't sure where to post this, so I figured that here would be as good a place as any.

Today is my 45th birthday and my original goal (set in the middle of January, 2004) was...

"To have maintained a 'healthy' weight for 12 months by the time I turned 45."

I reached my lowest weight in the middle of March, 2006, which puts me right on target for this birthday. I have gained a few kilos (2 to 4, depending on the day) but I think that is because my body didn't like sitting that low. I am still healthier, fitter and lighter than I have been for most of my adult life, so I figure that I have certainly reached my goal.

It is a funny feeling to be at this point, as I didn't really know what I was doing 3 and a half years ago. I had NO idea how quickly I would lose the weight, so I pretty much just grabbed my 45th birthday out of the air. It seemed to have worked out pretty well though. Now, I obviously intend to maintain this healthy weight for LIFE now, so I need a new goal. I would love to make my new goal 'helping others towards their healthy lifestyle', but things are a little hectic at the moment to take too much on, so I'm not sure how well I can do that. I'll have to see what happens I suppose. At the moment I am going to spend a little time enjoying the moment and relaxing over the school holidays.

Take care all,

Zelma
Losing weight has given me a "Freedom" that I had never previously experienced as an adult... and I am LOVING it!!!

Congratulations Zelma on achieving your goal. It certainly wasn't a small goal -- you aimed high and you got there and that's really inspirational.

I really like the sound of your new goal, to help others towards their healthy lifestyle and I'm sure you'll do that over the coming year :)

What a wonderful birthday present Zelma and I hope you had a lovely day and many happy returns.

You really have done a wonderful job on your weightloss and maintaining for 12 months is an added and fantastic acievement. You new goal of helping others is a good one and whether you are actively doing anything to bring it about it is happening anyway. You will never know how many people you have already inspired and with the publicity you have had it would be a lot more than you could have reached without it. Now after having lost the weight I believe that your maintenance journey can inspire people just as much.

Since going onto maintenance myself I am seeing a whole other side of this journey so it still inspires me to see others like yourself who have maintained for any length of time. So you see you are helping others already. :D
