I've hit a brick wall.

Postby Biddi » Tue Jul 03, 2007 3:49 pm

Hi all,

Well I signed up to this forum at the very beginning of my weightloss journey...used it few times, but then sort of decided to 'go-it-alone'.
Well here I am months later and 18kg lighter.
I am really proud of my efforts so far! I only have 8kg left to lose to reach my goal weight.
Problem is I seemed to have hit a brick wall, both in terms of weight loss and motivation.
I haven't lost any weight in the last 3 weeks. I have up't the anti in terms of excersize. In addition to doing one 45min brisk walk every day, I now also do 30min of aerobic excersize as well.
I also do 30 min of light free weights every second day.
I have culled the kj from my diet even further.
I just can't seem to get past this, and I am losing motivation because of it.

Any advise much appreciated.

Can I ask how many calories your eating now? Sometimes our body's metabolism gets used to the caloric intake and exercise performed and maintains at that level. I had to increase my caloric intake from 1200 to 1600, to get my weight loss back on track. Otherwise your body works at the level its used to. I had to also chuck out my whole exercise routine and get a whole new one. My body was so used to doing what I always did. Even increasing my intensity didn't work. So now I do something different every single day. I have a combination of 3 different classes as well as days for weights and days for cardio. I do body pump 2x a week, circuit breaker 2x a week, body balance 1x a week and I do weights and cardio 2x or more a week. This is so my body will not get accustomed to one type of exercise.

Well done on your weightloss to date Biddi that is a fantastic effort and you should be so very proud of yourself.

I agree with Vanessa you may need to completely change what you are doing. I would also suggest only changing one thing at a time so you can see what works and what doesn't.

All the best and good to see you again. :D

I am eating 1500 cal a day. Sometimes it works out to be less then that, but never over.
I am bored with the excersize routine I am doing. I don't have the cash to go out nd join a gym, buy equipment, etc. Any suggestions as to how I can mix it up without breaking the bank?
