Frozen/dried egg white?

Postby MissE » Fri Jul 13, 2007 3:12 pm

I just called the people who used to make Ready Whites frozen egg whites and they dont make them anymore!
Does anyone know of a similar thing? it seems powdered egg whites are everywhere in the US but I cant find them here...
Help!

I have bought powdered egg white from http://www.completehealth.com.au - I think it's under the "protein" section, called "egg white albumen" (sp). I also saw it on http://www.myopure.com.au

I just don't have the skill to separate eggs, plus I can't stand the waste (what do people do with yolks after they've separated them??), and I'm still a little scared of eggs

Anyway I'm probably causing all manner of animal cruelties by purchasing egg whites... can't see any other option though :(

It is very very useful though!

i love the yolk too, but its where all the fat is! i use egg white for things like quiche, where i use one or 2 whole eggs and top it up with white. you cant tell, and its much much healthier!

thanks so much kate, ill have to order some!

I love yolks, too. But when I separate them, I cook up the yolks and feed them to my dog - he loves 'em. But he punishes me later ... poohey! what a stinky boy!!!

LOL at the dog, but why cook them, I'd just mix it in raw to his food. When my dad makes pavlova there is usually some home made custard or mayo close behind.

Try in the health food section. I have some in the cupboard and I think the brand is Organ (from memory cos I cant be bothered getting up and checking lol).

Yes! I saw it yesterday. It was in a blue milk carton (like 1L size) and it had the outline of a man flexing his biceps on the front. But dammit, the name has decided to escape my head! Sorry, but its definately still available. Not sure about COles but definately in Safeway/Woolworths.
