Thanks!

Im learning to be patient with weight loss now, a while ago I was into the 'quick fix diet' where you lose 4kg a week. Now I know that losing it slowly means you'll keep it off, and thats what I want.

well, if you think about how long it took to get into your bad habits and put the weight on, losing it slowly makes sense -you can then change habits and let your body adjust
35kg lost. (November 2005 - October 2006)
15kg gained again (as at October 2010).
Back to the drawing board - Let's do this thing!

I think around the 1kg a week is a healthy weight loss.

I did lose 20 kg in the first 2-3 months, which works out to around 1-2kg a week. Once I started losing the next lot of weight, I was losing about 0.5 to 1kg a week.

I've been averaging about 0.5-1 kg a week. I think it really depends on what your starting weight is. My consultant said that usually when you have a fair bit to lose, the weight comes off a little quicker than someone who only has a few kilos to lose. Cant really comment on the validity of her comments, but I've been comfortable with my weight loss so far.

My second weigh-in was depressing as I wasso excited with the 2+ kilos weight loss the week before, but averaging 0.5-1kg a week is better than nothing at all.
Start Weight (from beginning): 71
Current Weight: 63.00
Weight lost so far: 8.00
Goal Weight: 55.00

8 kilos left.

Sounds right, backs up how my weight came off, quick early on, then slower later.

Also with men generally having more muscle their metabolism will naturally be just that bit faster than us gals, thereby being able to burn more calories.

I averaged around 750g a week which is within the range that health professionals recommend. Even to maintain this I was very focused so I don't know how people would lose much more than that over an extended period. Without being on a controlled program like biggest loser or something. Personally I don't like the message that program sends.

true, it tends to give the average a person an unrealistic expectation of how much to lose each week, and thats why I think some of them just gain the weight again after doing so well on the show.

It just doesnt fit in with reality. But hey, isn't that what the idiot box is for?! :)
