Just went to the shop..

Postby tanya » Fri Aug 31, 2007 2:16 pm

I just went to the shop to get some more tissues, toilet paper and some salad stuff for dinner. It was so hard not buy any bad chips or chocolate. The only thing i got and feel bad about anyway was a Dare Ice coffee..atleats its 98% fat free..
Its just so hard to not buy any of those bad things i want to eat so badly. Its like the more i try not to eat the more i want to eat! :?

Hi Tanya,

I know what you mean, you see all those yummy, fattening things in the supermarket and it's hard to leave them behind (I specially love chocolate). I have been trying to get over this by planning to buy a little special something when I shop. Sometimes, if I really feel like it I buy a chockie (but make it a small treat, like a Freddo or Milky-Way, rather than go for the family size block. (Don't laugh, I would have done that once! )

But usually, I make it something nice, but not too naughty, like some fruit - maybe something a little more expensive than I'd usually buy, a creamy low-fat dessert, or a nice low-calorie treat. There are so many yummy low-calorie goodies in the supermarket now. This week I bought a small 97% fat free brandy pate and some rice biscuits (quite low in calorie). Then I sent them home with my mum and told her I'll be over to share them with her later! (Just in case I was tempted to scoff the whole thing.... I know me, lol)

A 98% fat free iced coffee doesn't sound anything to feel guilty about - at least you got some calcium! And it's meant to be a healthy lifestyle, not torture!

Get rid of those guilts, girl! Hope you enjoyed the treat.

Jannie

Thanks Jannie made me feel better :D and great idea about allowing yourself something nice like a freddo. I guess the more you really hold out the more likely you are to go off the rails and binge on something.

I have started to buy a trashy magazine each time I grocery shop and I make sure I read it cover to cove after I have put the groceries away.

Its a nice treat of 'me' time + it distracts me from food!

I used to always buy cosmopolitan and finally stopped myself coz they are so expensive and mostly just adds throughout it all. and the stuff that you actually do read in there is always almost the same as what was in there the previous month!
