The no diet diet book (do something different)

Postby Nay » Thu Sep 06, 2007 5:22 pm

Has anyone read the no diet diet book? If so, what do you think of it?
I'm in the middle of reading it now, but I'm not gonna try until I get back from my holiday incase it doesnt work!

For those of you who haven't read it, its about how to lose weight without reading food labels etc. Its about learning to change your habits in life and that in turn will help you break your food and eating habits because all our habits are interleaved with one another.

Its interesting to say the least. If it works is another story...

I will. Im not going to try it till I get back from holiday. I'm going to hamilton island for my sisters wedding and my dress has already been taken in to fit me. I'm scared that if I start the 'no diet diet' now, if it doesn't work and I put on weight, I won't fit into my dress.

I'm also half-way through reading it, and it's about eating intuitively and listening to your body, rather than being on a diet as such. There's no restriction on the foods that you eat, but you only eat until you are full. It also talks about the 'famine response' that people have when they are on a diet and how they start off okay, but then feel ravenous after days or weeks.

It's an interesting book and sort of along the 'dieting makes you fat' thought. It more or less says that if you are ravenous, our body is telling us to eat and that's exactly what we should do, otherwise we store up the fat we have because our body behaves as if we are in a famine. It made sense to me.

That was my reading of it anyway. :)
