Cheese.. HELP!

Postby loveat116 » Wed Sep 12, 2007 3:27 pm

OK.

Does anyone know of a cheese that is lower in fat and calories?

I make toasted sandwiches a lot now, and I was wondering what was the best cheese to buy.

Would the sliced ones be best? Is there a weight watchers cheese?

I use Edam & Gouda cheese for melts. I dont know about their calorie count but dieticians usually recommend them

I think that might be the Bega or the Cracker Barrell Vintage Jody??

I was going to say the same as well....that is if you like a strong tasting cheese.....

bega is a nice one, mainland light is another one.....I even buy the home brand light.....

The sliced Jarlsberg Light is only 168kJ a slice :) And Reduced fat fetta cheese is a lot lower too.. Those are yummier choices, much nicer than the plastic cheese that's around.. If you don't mind plastic cheese though, the Kraft Extra Light 97% Fat Free singles are the lowest in kJ :) Bocconcini (comes in little balls in a plastic tub) is also low!

I'm addicted to soy cheese....mmm it’s divine and you can get it in different herb flavourings. I buy if from woolies.

I'm not sure about cal wise as I haven't eaten it in 2 weeks.

And I'm not sure about melting it, but its divine...that is if you are a fan of soy :D

Kraft Singles Free = 133kj per slice
Kraft Singles Extra Light = 167kj
Kraft Singles Light = 211kj
Kraft Singles Regular = 253kj

Weight Watchers Chedder Cheese Slices = 187kj

Coles Slices Extra Light = 173kj

Hmmmm... might go for the coles one. I dont think we have the jarlsberg (sp?) one.

Rubber!

When cheese is melted I can not tell the difference, so i dont mind how rubbery or low calorie it is!

Its the same with milk, I cant tell the difference betweel full cream, low fat or no fat. Weird.
