The best thing to eat AFTER a workout is protein, because it aids in building muscle and repairing muscle that has been torn during the weights routine.

I ALWAYS eat an hour-30 minutes before a workout. Usually a piece of bread with peanut butter, or a banana or a small meal. If I dont I get lethargic and have NO energy.

After weight training for sure protein with in the first 30 mins is great. If doing cardio they recommedn waiting up till an hour after to burn the most calories, a habit i found hard to break. I used to come home and jam something in straight away.

Eating some low GI cards in a meal around an hour before, will help give a longer burst of energy. A sugar rush will just bring you up and dump you again

There's so many theories on whether or not to eat after a workout... I've heard that the hour after you exercise is the 'golden window' for your body to absorb the maximum amount of nutrients from food, so you should eat good quality carbs & protein within an hour after a workout. I tend to believe this one.

I don't think we'll ever know the truth!!
