So I've been attempting to lose weight for 3 weeks...

Postby yellowroses » Mon Sep 24, 2007 8:29 pm

And I've managed to put on 5kgs!

I have been eating properly, sticking to my points, and exercising and I've put on weight!

Why is this happening?!

Please can someone give me answers, I feel like I'm doing something very very wrong!

you might be retaining fluid, might be hormone related, might be an underlying health factor like thyroid problems, portion sizes might be too big, too many carb rich foods, not enough exercise, too much exercise, not eating enough or eating too much.. the list goes on

It could also be muscle gain....

don't know what more to say...ummmm portion size too....it doesn't matter if its healthy food its all about energy in vs energy out.

I've been doing the weight watchers points diet, and have been weighing everything, making sure my hubby weighs everything when he cooks it, and I'm very careful when it comes to EVERYTHING that's put in my meals. I've bought pretty much every single weight watchers item I can get my hands on that I can eat. I've been exercising 4 times a week for half an hour...

I just don't get it. I cried when I weighed myself, and have been feeling crap all day because I don't want to put on more weight! I don't want to die of a heart attack or develop diabetes!

Did you try using a tape measure to measure your waist, chest and hips? Sometimes I find that I'll have a gain on the scale but my clothes feel looser so I always measure when I weigh myself otherwise the gain can get me down.

I agree with the others dont get down mate. It may be muscle or some other factor . U may even blitz the next few weeks and lose a heap . Our bodies all respond in different ways

Are you weighing in at home or at meetings?

Maybe your scales are broken and you need a new set?

As hard as it is to not be disheartened by it, try to not let it get you down, i am struggling to losse weight to, but in the end, we have to keep at it, and keep being strong and you will notice a difference within time, let your body get settled into its new routines etc (eating and exercise i mean) and see how you go.

i had also been doing all the right things for weeks and putting on weight-i am exercising like crazy and counting calories adding the calories burned at the gym to the 1200 i was allowed each day.-this week i decided to drop my calories to 1200 per day as well as 1hr exercise per day and have lost-about time!!! but i am feeling a lot healthier with exercise and have toned up a lot and look much better in my clothes despite not having lost that much-dont get too carried away with what the scales say!

I just read your intro thread and it says you have IBS.

This could be the reason your also finding it hard to lose weight.

Maybe you should speak to a doctor about it, they may be able to help.

I have some experience with IBS (not myself) and I know that it can be very hard to live with.

Hey!

Chin up!

I spoke to a woman at the gym who started doing Weight Watchers and she put on weight in the first 5 weeks and then started losing it ...... She's lost 20kgs to date. It happens, she reckons it was muscle gain. When I first started dieting I put on in the first 5 weeks, then started to lose...... I really don't know why it happens but it does! Hang in there! I know you will make it in the end!

I know it's hard and if I could do it for you, I would but I cannot.

Hope you are okay.

BIG HUGS!! :D

From the sounds of it you are sticking to everything religiously . . i put it down to Muscle gain for sure ..

I remember when I was first starting I put on 3 or 4 kilos myself . . then it started ripping off . . as they say muscle weighs more than fat, and ya body is just adjusting itself to the new change in diet and exercise . .

keep at it . . and remember one thing . . its not always about the kilos . . its about losing those important cms . . be interesting if you had a belt you wear often and can tell us if you notice that starting to loosen up . .

Keep at it . . we are all here for ya mate.
