Far out Kim!! That's a bit scary, but funny too :P I've never heard of that happening before! The rower at my gym has a creaky seat :( Makes me feel like I've got a big fat bum the way it carries on!!!
Ah well, they'll either get it fixed or get a brand new rower, wouldn't that be nice!!

Yeah the chain just came all the way out and that was it. It was acting a bit funky before hand and they usually only have 3 this day they had 4. So I am wondering if they had just gotten one fixed. Maybe they did a shonky and I was the guinea pig.

I remember when I first started going to a trainer and he had just got a brand new rowing machine and he made me get on it. The workout was so hard (i was a beginner) and when I finished the 1000m I was so buggered I let the handle go and it snapped back so hard and smashed the screen and everything else. :o :o
Well, needless to say he had to get the whole thing repaired and I felt so guilty I burst into tears! He was really nice about it and thank god he didnt charge me for the repairs (I know that it cost him a few hundred - oops! )
I'll never forget it and everytime I get someone on the rower I warn them about placing the handlebar in its position CAREFULLY!

Liz

Oh wow Liz  I would have burst into tears too. Crikey...that's one thing I always do on the rower is replace the handle properly and carefully. So many times when I have gone to use it the handle is not in the little cradle....grrrrr that's probably why it broke.

I should have titled this thread Kim's rowing machine progress....LOL anyway so I got back on the rower. Managed 4ks so was pleased with that.

Now I am getting calluses, mainly on my left palm from gripping the handle/rower thingy. I have little fingerless gloves I wear when doing weights perhaps I need to use these on the rower but will I look like a big girls blouse?

I know heaps of people who wear weights gloves while on the rower, I do myself! And I recommend others do too! I get calluses really easily :( And massage therapists can't have yucky callused hands!!
So go for it!!! Who cares what anyone else thinks!

I so need gloves! I have a pair in the smallest size possible, but they are too big... damn small hands :x Glad you are having fun on the rower Kim :D

LOL Sarah I know what you mean, my gloves fit me in the hand but the band to tighten them is too big so the velcro sits way past where it should.

Thanks for you input gals. :D

One of the PT's will know but I think the rowing machine is slightly weight bearing.
