I really love Charlize Theron she is so elegant and beautiful. She is slim and petite but not too thin. 8)

hmmm I try not to look too much at celebs as I think they (generally) pose a fairly unattainable image of what our bodies should be *jumps off her soap box* HOWEVER :D I think Scarlette Johanson I gorgeous...and beyonce too ;)

I dont like the word 'thinspiration'.

Its a word associated with eating disorders, you should look up to people with a more healthy body image.

Mine is Beyonce. Healthy and gorgeous. But I'd love to have Jessica Alba's body!

We all know that true beauty comes from within but i thought this thread was more so a bit of fun.

I don't think it was meant to be related to eating disorders - or even negative. Its more so people you admire the bodies of - i think the victorias secret models are gorgeous because yes they are thin, but they also have booty hips and bust.

beyonce has booty hips and a bust and charlize theron is not overly skinny.

These people train hard to have bodies like they do, and if you want to look like that you need to train hard also.

Loveat116, I know what u mean, (my cousin is anorexic and uses the pro ana/mia websites and talks about ppl who are 'thinspo') but that is not the context it is being used in in this case :) I remember reading old slimming mags from like 1990 and they used the term 'thinsperation' back then, its only in recent times (since the web became mainstream a few years back) that it has been associated with anorexia/bullimia, and that is certainly not the case in this forum ;) xx

I don't really use celebrities for inspiration. I use old photo's of me cause that is what I want to get back to.

I spose I sort of look up to athletes like some of the female tennis players that are out there.

 I don,t really have a thinspiration celeb, but as far as confidence and being comfortable in thier own skin I would have to say I think Queen Latifa is inspiring for me to see the whole person when I look at myself not just the weight side of me. I agree with SAS I have a pic of myself on the fridge from when I was at a weight I was happy with that is my inspiration.

I'd never heard the word 'thinspiration' before and didn't know that it was used in ED circles. Maybe we should say 'healthspiration' instead - except it doesn't sound anywhere near as good!

Anyway, my healthy, thinner-than-me and still a bit curvy role-model is Billie Piper (I'm a HUGE Doctor Who fan). I recently read her autobiography where she talked about her past eating disorders. It was a very scary read, and so sad when you consider how gorgeous she is at her normal weight!

inspiration

Postby mimosa8 » Sat Dec 15, 2007 1:00 pm

lets just call it inspiration then..

I love Dr who too!! did you see the one about the war where they were "looking for mummy" I thought that was quite scary..

My new inspiration are the girls on Body for life - success stories.. interesting reads and they did it with hard work determination, healthy eating and exercise.

Particulaly Amy young.

I printed out her story and have put it on the wall along with pictures of clothes i would like to wear and inspirational qotes and commands eg, "drink more water" "exercise daily" and the dates I want to achieve it by. got the concept from " the secret".
