Who Goes To Curves

Postby LaurenJ » Sat Feb 16, 2008 8:16 pm

I have a whole bunch of weight to lose and have been thinking of joining Curves, but Im just not sure. I have heard that it's hard to do their circuit exercises because the ladies on the next machine chat to each other and cut into the waiting persons time on it, and the staff dont do anything. Then I was just reading another post here and a member living quite near me mentioned she broke her contract with them, and its possible she went to the one near my place. AGH :? Does anyone have any thoughts or advice please?

it all depends on whats good for you.

I used to be a member but I didn't like the repetative nature of it.

I don't know if you know how it works but basically its a 10 machine circuit with stations in between. When I was going you get 30 mins to go around twice. You get 30 seconds on each machine and 30 seconds on the in-between stations. When I went you jog on the spot on the station but I have heard that they now get you to do different things, eg side kicks etc.

There are no other machines or classes, so you go for 30 mins, do 2 circuits then leave. Some people love it, some people don't. If you want variety in your workout or want to be able to do a spin class or body pump etc I suggest a proper gym.

I suggest seeing if you can go for a trial period perhaps as it is $50 to cancel if you join up.

I have joined regular gyms several times, and after paying all that money I hardly went, I just felt so embarassed.... and Curves is between work and home, so I could go on the way to or from work. I will check out a trial though, thanks.

like I said, if it suits you more, go for it!! But I highly recommend trying something out before you sign up and get stuck in a contract!!

I'm a member but am cancelling my contract tomorrow.

I love it in the beginning (about 2 months ago) but now even when I push myself to the max I don't find it much of a challenge and its boring for me now. I also don't like the staff at my Curves.

I think I might buy a treadmill instead.

I haven't gone to curves as it seems boring to me also exercising is my *MY* time Im pretty selfish LOL I wouldn't wanna move on and share equipment hehe! But I know a lot of people who love it lots of the Mums from my kids school go in the morning and I have seen results with them :) ! So it might be worth while trying it out just in case your one of the ones who loves it!

Best Wishes
